If you want to use a restored original remote control with your Vizio devices, such as smart TVs, soundbars, etc., you should reset your devices.
There is a setting section on the TV that allows us to reset the TV, but the remote does not work to access the menus and settings. Vizio’s official SmartCast app can be used in such cases [This link is for iOS users] or the buttons on the TV.
Recommendation:- You should also power recycle your device before resetting it. Reconnecting the device after unplugging it for 3 – 5 minutes will do the trick.
If you don’t have the original remote control, here is how you reset your TV.
- Manually turn on the TV
- Input and Volume-down buttons should be held down at the same time
- If you press the input button and wait for 10 seconds, a message will appear on the screen saying “Reset to default settings”
- As soon as the resetting is completed, you will see an alert that states “Memory being cleared, resetting the display.”. Wait for the message to disappear.
Especially in new models, some models have a reset button. On the back of the TV panel, all the buttons are located.
It may be possible to reset soundbars using a dedicated button.
As soon as you have restored your device, you should test your Vizio remote control with it. There is a possibility of it working perfectly.
Clear the obstacles in front of the TV
The remote must be able to see the device directly if it is an IR remote. It is therefore important to ensure that there are no obstacles between the remote and your device that could disrupt IR signals.

Distance matters
Infrared and Bluetooth connectivity are included in the TV’s remote. The maximum distance for Infrared remote controls is 12 meters, while the maximum distance for Bluetooth remotes is 40 feet. It is possible that more than that could affect the device’s ability to communicate properly.
Therefore, try a different distance range for the remote.
Have you recently updated the firmware on your TV?
It’s possible the recently updated firmware on your Vizio smart TV is not compatible with the remote control if you recently updated the firmware. My chances of getting the non-compatibility issue were lower when I contacted Vizio customer support.
