We’re really frustrated that the remote control doesn’t work right. You might be having trouble with the GE remote for a variety of reasons. You’ll fix all the temporary problems when you reset GE universal remote. When we restored it, we brought it back to how it was when we bought it. By reprogramming the remote with a valid code, we’ll be able to get a fresh start.
Resetting it may be needed in a number of situations, such as when the remote does not respond to your device, when you can’t program it to a new device, when the IR LED light is blinking anonymously, etc. Please remember that after restoring, any settings you have made till then will be wiped out.
How To Reset A GE Universal Remote?
Method 1: The ever simplest method
- Hold the “Setup” button for at least two seconds until the RED light blinks
- The LED light will remain on when you release the button
- After pressing and releasing the “OK” button,
- The RED LED indicator blinks twice, indicating that you have successfully reset the remote by releasing the “0” key
Method 2: Power recycling
Our method involves removing the batteries from the remote in order to power recycle it. Allow at least 10 minutes to pass after removing the batteries. Each button in the remote must be rapidly pressed and released during this time to remove all the accumulated charges. Reinstall the batteries in the battery compartment after this has been completed. You will be taken through the factory settings mode on your remote control.
Once the remote is programmed, you will be able to control the device remotely.
Method 3: Using the Mute button
Even when the remote is functioning and the device is in IR range, this method can be used. When the remote quota for the number of devices to be programmed exceeds the number of devices to pair, this method is more convenient.
It is also possible to use the first method with some GE remotes that do not have the OK button. This method can be used by such users.
Follow these 3 steps:
- In order to activate the RED LED, press and hold the Setup key until it blinks continuously until it remains on
- Once the “Mute” button has been pressed, release it
- Reset the device by pressing and releasing the “0” (Zero) key
Benefits
Your General Electric remote control will benefit from a hard reset.
- Improves the remote response rate (responds quickly to televisions and other devices)
- There will be no bugs
- The issue of anonymous behavior (LED blinking) will be resolved
- Make sure all the paired devices are unpaired as soon as possible
- Resetting the remote will bring it back to life if it suddenly stopped working
- Fixes issues when some keys don’t work, etc.
More suggestions
I recommend you replace the batteries in your GE universal remote after resetting it if the batteries are too old. Whenever the batteries are not sufficiently charged, the remote will display some anonymous behaviors. The remote needs to be programmed for all 8 devices if you are using 8 remotes. The programming for all those devices will be walked through soon even though the batteries have low power.
