Due to its universal nature, Philips remotes sync with multiple devices in a unique way. The Philips TV remote control comes preprogramed and does not require pairing when you purchase it. In addition, you should set up universal controls with the brands of the devices you use.
The following post will walk you through manually programming a Philips universal remote in less than five minutes. It is necessary here to use a device code that corresponds to a particular brand and model.
Along with the remote box, a code booklet is included. The booklet should have been kept on your shelf carefully.
How to program the Philips universal remote?
Finding the right device code is the first step. You will no longer have to sync your remote with your TV or other devices if you do this.
Take careful note of the codes, which will be four digits long.
There is a unique code for each Samsung TV if you are programming the remote. Using the same code on another brand of TV is not possible.
Follow the steps when you have the codes
Step1:- Turn On the device manually
Your device must be turned on before the remote can be synced. The power button on the device should be pressed to turn it on.
Step 2:- Setup and device mode
A Setup button will be located on the remote control. The RED light will come on when you press and hold the button.
To program for a specific device category, press the button.
In addition to the TV button, there are buttons for DVD, STRM, AUD, etc. Depending on the device you are using, press any key.
Step 3:- Enter the code
Once you’ve selected a code, enter it carefully on the keypad, and then hit Enter.
After pressing the Power button, check to see if the device has been turned off.
Step 4:-Testing keys
Use the power button to turn on the device, and then test the remote’s buttons to see if they are responding.
Auto code search method
Philips remotes can be programmed without a code if you cannot find the device code. This method is known as auto code search.
As a matter of fact, we are not directly using the code, but rather codes stored on the remote’s database are routinely sent to the remote and their sets are tested.
Manually turn on your device.
When the RED light turns on, hold down the setup button
Press the device button corresponding to your device category, such as TV, DVD, etc.
The Philips remote control will send the appropriate code to your device’s IR sensor based on your repeated pressing and releasing of the Power button during this time.
The device will turn off once the correct code has been entered.
Once the device has been turned on manually, turn it off again. To turn off the device, press and release the Volume UP button every 2 seconds.
The code and settings will be saved when you press the device button after the device has been turned off. You can save the code by pressing the TV button if you have tried this method on your TV.
How will you check the compatibility?
It’s just a matter of checking if the device brand is listed on the code booklet that comes with the remote. Your remote can be confirmed to be compatible with the brand of your device if it is compatible.
Most of the well-known TV, DVD, Home theater, and Soundbar brands are compatible with Philips universal remote. The codes available from the official sources on the internet can be used if you could not locate them in the booklet.
A series of pairing steps should be followed when using the code.
Check the batteries before inserting them to ensure they are sufficiently charged. Replacing old batteries with fresh ones is a good idea if the batteries are too old.
It is recommended that you remove the batteries from the remote control for two minutes before reprogramming it.
Types of Philips remote
Here are the steps for setting up a remote control, regardless of what type you are using. We have 3 remote devices, 4 remote devices, 6 remote devices, and 8 remote devices. Different codes can be used to sync multiple devices with a single remote control.
A new feature in the newest models is the extension of compatibility. Streaming devices such as Roku sticks can be programmed into Philips universal remotes today. There are several Roku boxes and Roku Expresses available.
Also, it is compatible with different Roku smart TVs built-in with Roku, such as those from Insignia, Hisense, and Vizio.
Conclusion
Here are the steps involved in the setup process. The key to success is getting the right device code. The remote must be kept safe after pairing once the codes have been taken from the manual booklet. To ensure you don’t lose the code booklet, you should also take a snapshot of the booklet using your smartphone and store it on your PC, smartphone, or Google Drive. It’s something I do personally.
